Dr. Navendran D. Naidoo

Dr Naven Naidoo is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in spine conditions, known for his calm, compassionate approach and commitment to helping patients return to an active, pain-free life.
He obtained his MBChB from the Medical University of South Africa in 1999 and completed a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care through the College of Medicine of South Africa. He later specialised in orthopaedics, earning his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery through the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa — reflecting a strong foundation of training and clinical expertise.
Dr Naidoo has more than 15 years of experience in spinal surgery and regularly performs both primary spine procedures and complex revision spinal surgery. As a Smith & Nephew Travelling Fellow, he gained exposure to advanced spinal surgery techniques, further refining his ability to manage challenging spinal conditions. He subsequently worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Spinal Unit at King George V Hospital, where he treated a wide range of complex spinal pathologies.
He is currently a key member of Umhlanga Orthopaedic Surgeons, providing comprehensive spine care from accurate diagnosis and personalised treatment planning through to surgery, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery. He places strong emphasis on clear communication and shared decision-making, ensuring patients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their care journey.
Outside of his clinical practice, Dr Naven Naidoo is a devoted family man and a father of triplets. His wife is an occupational therapist, which has further shaped his appreciation for functional recovery, rehabilitation, and returning patients to meaningful daily activities. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and formula one racing, valuing balance, focus, and staying active — principles that closely align with his approach to patient care.
Alongside his clinical expertise, Dr Naidoo is a man of strong faith, which guides his approach to medicine and patient care. These values shape his commitment to compassion, integrity, and respect, ensuring that each patient is treated with dignity, empathy, and genuine concern for their overall wellbeing.
